Built in 1955 by members of the Canterbury University College Tramping Club (later the CUTC). Bruce Reay reports it was dropped in from a RNZAF Bristol Freighter & it was named Ada Hut to differentiate it from the nearby 'Ada Cullers Hut'. Some folks referred to it as Ada Pass Hut, despite it being 10km east of Ada Pass. It was also known as Christopher Hut, given its proximity to the confluence of the Christopher & Ada Rivers. Peter Radcliffe remembers it being there in 1967. It was destroyed by a tree in c1978 & replaced by the Lands & Survey Dept in 1980. Refer to the NZ Alpine Journal, volume 23, issue 1 (1969). Edit Hut
