Notes
It is commonly thought the name Boo Boo came about as the hut was built on the site of a miss-placed air drop. Jock Fisher reports, it was called Boo Boo Creek long before air dropping stores became the norm. Jock reports "when we first used the camp, they could not find a clearing large enough to drop on, so the air drop was on a large slip below the camp on the river level, all stores had to be backpacked up to the camp. The planes were Austers, & the pilots were Popeye Lucas & Tex Smith. The site around the camp was felled by Laurie Dahm at a later date, suitable for a air drops". It once had an open fire, which was replaced with a wood burner. Early May, 2024, saw DoC Hokitika finish the sub floor work, & replace the leaky flat roof entry area, clearlight & some corrugated iron. Edit Hut
