Notes
This a hut on the Island Hills Station Walking Track, which from 2002-2013 was known as the 'Hurunui High Country Track'. The track reopened in October, 2020. Bush Valley Hut was built in 1932 by Norwegian, Chris Johnson & Jack Allen as part of a government-sponsored 'Great Depression' work scheme. The hut is made from felled & hand-trimmed red beech trees that were pulled by draught horses to site. It has important historical value given it's Scandinavian design. Edit Hut
