Built by Kevin W. Fisher of Nelson Creek & R. J. Courtney of Te Puke on 5 & 6 June, 1958. It was retrofitted with two raised sleeping benches in Nov., 1974, by NZFS Hokitika (Tony Newton, G. Stuart & L. Bennett). It is maintained by Permolat volunteers, & in late March, 2019, 4 volunteers led by Paul Reid, spent 4-days renovating the biv, replacing all of the sub-floor & studs, rebuilding & sealing of the window & door, reinstated the 'missing' bunk, cutting back vegetation & painting it 'Rescue Orange'. The biv was raised & a concrete step built. Waratahs were installed along the high scrubby-bench sidle from the ridge to the biv. The 1958 flat iron, ceiling timbers & T&G floor remain insitu.
