Notes
First known as 'Hannah Creek Hut' before taking on the Chaffey name from nearby stream. Jack McBurney was a Forest Service Ranger based at The Cobb Dam & a good friend of Ed Hillary. Jack McBurney & Jack Cowie, built the hut over two years; 1952-1953. Unfortunately, it was no longer maintained after 1994, almost becoming derelict. The Golden Bay Deer Stalkers Association members raised funds & manpower to fully restore the hut in 2012, with the restoration was overseen by John Taylor & John Mason. Edit Hut

Very smelly hut, not very pleasant to stay there.
