A classic, dexion-framed hut built in 1964 by the NZ Electricity Board. It used to be the ‘Percy Stream Shelter’ on the way to Percy Saddle, before it was relocated. There is no heating, no insulation, no real windows & no water tank. It has a sleeping platform that accommodates four mattresses. It is sited at the end of a very long & extremely boggy clearing. It was fully restored in mid November, 2024, by 7 volunteers from the Back Country Trust. They stripped it back to the dexion & floor, installed plywood atop the dexion & a wooden framing atop that, then a new roof. They added a new window, door & deck. To retain character & history, the dexion is visible from the interior. Edit Hut
