Notes
Erected in 1945 by the Tararua Tramping Club & opened on 9 March, 1946, following the dismantling of Cone Saddle Hut. It's chimney blew off in November, 1965. Cone Hut is the second oldest hut in the Tararua FP & has historic designation. It was built using the rare technique of adzing Totara timber into framing & splitting it into slab walls. It was restored in the 1980. Refer to both: https://www.ttc.org.nz/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TTC/ConeHut https://tarhc.org.nz/our-huts/cone-hut/ Edit Hut

Cone hut was just magical. Very quite and tranquil close to the river.

What a Gem, loved this hut and were very spoilt to have it all to ourselves.
