Built in 1971 & originally called 'Kensington Hut' as per early NZFS documents & guides. Over 8 days in March, 2021, the hut was extensively overhauled by Permolat volunteers, led by Geoff Spearpoint. They replaced the ridge capping, flashings, 3 sheets of roofing iron, the lead head nails with screws, the skylight, the 4 corner piles, the exterior painted twice, the toilet re-levelled, re-roofed & painted, the interior cleaned & painted, the heli-pad cleared, extended & stabilised, & the access tracks trimmed & marked. The wooden heli-pad was demolished in circa 2015. Edit Hut
