Notes
Built by the NZFS in the early 1960's as a S81, 4-bunker. The open fire was removed early on & replaced with a wood burner. At some point one of the cupboards next to the door was removed to create space. It has been lined & had a roof-fed water tank & toilet added. The summer of 2003/04 saw the hut resealed & repainted, & some of the piles, framing, skylights, & flue replaced. 2013 saw door & framing repairs completed. Mid March, 2023, witnessed builder Clint Jarvis lead 6 people under the Jobs for Nature program, completely rebuild the hut over 6 days, with the frames being pre-built by DOC builder, Miquel Dijkstra, in the Hokitika workshop.
