Built in 1945 this was a Canterbury Mountaineering Club biv in the upper reaches of the Anti Crow River, under Mt Gizeh. It was flattened by an avalanche in c1979 & removed by the park board. The hut was made out of kerosene cans, hence the funny patterns. Edit Hut
I saw a large beech tree across the biv', not sure when but it may have been after the 1stAug75 Canterbury NW gales that brought a swathe of plantation trees down all along the Canterbury Plains. I passed the biv in 1968 on a school tramp.
