Owned by the NZAC, managed by DOC & maintained by the South Canterbury branch of NZAC. Built in 1934 & officially opened 24 Dec., 1934 by A. P. Harper & G. E. Mannering (Foundation members & ex-NZAC Presidents). In Feb., 1955, flooding undermined the hut & in Easter 1955, NZAC club members dismantled & relocated the hut, 275m north-east. In May, 2012, a volunteer work party replaced the lead head nails, squared up & sealed the door & framing, flashed the windows & painted the hut. In March, 2019, volunteers painted the exterior & in May, 2020, a solar lighting system was installed. Edit Hut
