Built in April, 1968, by the NZFS as a S81 4-bunk design, it was NZFS hut #306. It was lined internally in the early 1980's. During the summer of 2003/04, DOC painted it, resealed it & provided new fireproof mattresses. The hut received extensive maintenance between April, 2018, & March, 2020, thanks to Permolat volunteers, led by Tom Hayes. They repiled, re-roofed, & repainted the hut, & added a water tank. January, 2022, saw Tom lead 5 volunteers to install a toilet, in a joint project with DOC Hokitika & the Backcountry Trust. Edit Hut
