The second of two ‘Islands’ huts. This hut replaced the original IAD hut. Early February, 2024, saw 4 Permolat Southland volunteers overhaul the hut. They painted the roof & replaced the roof lead-head nails with tek-screws. They fitted a cladding skirt & replaced rotten bearers & joists. They repaired the fireplace & hearth, replaced the steps, painted the interior, & reconfigured the bunks (now a 6-bunker). The exterior walls received one coat of paint, & the toilet interior & exterior painted. Decades of rubbish was flown out & a river terrace track recut to avoid a swamp. Edit Hut
