Built in 1955. January, 2019, saw DOC's Jim Henderson lead a group of volunteers to renovate the hut, including painting the exterior, sprucing up the inside & completely rebuilding the door. Access is across pastoral lease land & permission is required. Contact DOC Waimakariri office for details. Only two of the three bunks have mattresses. Edit Hut

There is a track from the Jervois/Jones Stream confluence which starts just slightly on the Jervois Stream side of the confluence. It needs clarification and marking as the old start of the track was scoured away by a flood at some time.
