Built late 1958 by NZFS Nelson. Jock Fisher reports it was 1 of a group of 4, which were the first NZFS huts flown in by helicopter on 18 August, 1958. Designed by the NZFS Nelson conservancy building overseer, Phil McConchie, the huts were pre-cut at Golden Downs workshop, stacked at Karamea & flown in by the Christchurch-based Braziers Air Works in a Bell 47. This design predates the standardised NZFS S81. In 2013, volunteers, led by Jason Campbell, relocated the toilet, cleared vegetation, painted the exterior, & replaced rotten framing, floor & subfloor. March, 2022, saw the roof & flashings replaced, interior relined & a large woodshed built. Permolat volunteers, led by Andrew Barker, recut & remarked the tracks into the valley in 2023. Edit Hut
