The third of three structures built on this site. The original hut, located adjacent to the current hut, was built in the 1940's by a Mr Henderson & a culling friend. It was known as 'Lake Hut' & when it collapsed, it was replaced by a comfortable open fire-placed bivvy, which in turn, was replaced by this, the current structure. Information from Don Cowlin, hunter & later Field Officer, for the North Westland deer culling blocks. The open fire was replaced with a woodburner that sits inside the open fire cavity. Edit Hut
Both Rough Creek and Robinson Saddle tops are amazing. Access via lake track includes plenty of clambering over trees. Rough Creek track is well marked and takes 6 - 8 hours.
