Built in 1968 by the Dept. of Lands & Survey, based upon a Murray Schofield (Fiordland NP, Chief Ranger) design. Over the years, repeated snowfalls had resulted in structural damage & leaks. Late February, 2021, saw Rob Brown, Paul Chinn, retired Fiordland NP ranger Ken Bradley, & builders Clint Jarvis & Mark Williamson overhauled the hut. They replaced the broken ridge beam & 3 sets of rafters, rebuilding the roof structure, before re-roofing the hut. They re-secured the lightweight 3 x 2 side walls with engineered cables. Edit Hut
