Notes
There have been four huts in Leslie Clearing. The original, built in the 1890’s by the Salisbury family who grazed cattle in the valley until 1913. During the Great Depression, Collins built the second hut (1931), which was rebuilt in the mid 1950's (either 1953 or 1955) by Takaha locals, Jock Stocker & Graham Keen. Jock Stocker said they dropped the iron in by tiger moth, hence the iron was cut short to get it in & out of the aircraft door. In 1982, Snow Meyer built the fourth hut which burnt down in approximately 2001. Edit Hut
