Erected by the Golden Bay Alpine & Tramping Club in 1973. Late January, 2016, saw Gaylene Wilkinson, Geoff Spearpoint & Alex Tuffnell paint the exterior, clear existing drainage around the hut & re-lay the hut entrance rock cobbles. Mid April, 2016, Gaylene along with Peter Fullerton completed the main upgrade work, including stripping the interior back to the framing, adding insulation & strengthening timber, installation of a new west-facing window, a larger skylight, & a new awning over the door. They added a new stainless steel bench, shelving, widened all the bunks, lowered the bottom bunks to allow for more headroom, & added a hinged bunk to increase capacity from 3 to 4 bunks. Edit Hut
