Reputedly the first 12-bunk 'DOC designed' hut in NZ, it was built in 2004 to replace the old Long Harry Hut, which was at a different site [see 'Long Harry Hut (old)']. tails. The latter was shifted to Doughboy Bay in 2004 to replace the aging 'Doughboy Bay Biv'. March, 2021, saw the hut painted by a DOC ranger & 2 volunteers from the Winton Rotary Club & the chimney flue was replaced too. Edit Hut
Stunning site and hut, possibly my favourite on the circuit. Only downside is notable sandfly ingress through the insect netting which is not fine enough to block sandflies crawling straight through!
