Built in 1960 (though some reports suggest 1967) by the NZFS, it was one of the last of the NZFS two-person B49 designs with a flat-iron roof. It is a basic shell with a couple of mattresses, but no bunks & a single perspex window. in 2004, DOC replaced the piles & roof. In April, 2019, Ted Brennan & Annie Hughes re-affixed a brace near the door, replaced some hex-screws on the iron cladding (where needed), rust-proofed, painted & sealed the biv. Thanks to Dulux it is now coloured 'rescue orange'. In March, 2018, DOC recut & remarked the access track. Edit Hut
