Notes
It was a private hut on private land, belonging to 'The Poplars Station'. The hut sat very close to the boundary of Lake Sumner Forest Park. A memorial to famed naturalist Dick Morris is outside the hut remains. The hut was known as 'Kiwi Hut' on maps produced by the NZMS in the 1960's, before the 'Hope Kiwi Lodge' was built. It burnt down in early, 2023, while two hunters were away for the day. Edit Hut

Tragedy! Hut is immortalised in book A Sock in my stew by my uncle Robin S Patterson, who with a group of enthusiasts worked on this hut as a memorial to Dick Morris (culler).

This hut has recently burnt down. Only chimney and concrete pad remains in place. Hopefully the station will rebuild it. Part of the new water tank has melted.
