Notes
Built in 1962 by the NZFS for culling purposes. It sat beside 'Newton Creek Hut (old)', an old Internal Affairs Department (IAD) cullers hut until that was removed in 1980. The hut initially had an open fire, but this was removed in the late 1970's & replaced with a wood burner. Its interior was lined at some point & water is from the creek. A woodshed was added in 2017. The hut site is fairly shady & damp, not getting much sun in winter It was resealed & repainted, inside & out, by DOC in 2004, & in Feb., 2017, it was extensively renovated by a team led by Rob Brown.
