The setup with the biv at the back of a huge shelter is quite interesting. It makes it much more comfortable compared to a standard bivouac. If the front of the shelter were enclosed and a fireplace installed, it could really improve the place. Edit Hut
An upgraded bivouac with plenty of space in the front shelter (and even a dartboard). From the bivouac, I crossed the Ngaruroro River (thigh-deep) and went up the curvy spur to point 1247, then made my way to Te Puke Hut (4 hours at a good pace). There's a steep rocky section (15 meters high) around 1100 meters and two rocky knobs on the main ridge to be sidled on the northeast side.
