Notes
The second of two Otehake huts in this vicinity. Dave Richardson relates that he, Ray Forsyth & Harry Waters cleared a chopper pad downstream from the old hut, so materials for the new hut could be brought in. The new hut was built in 1963 to replace an IAD (Internal Affairs Dept) hut, with a vestibule extension (with a door) added sometime later [refer to 'Otehake Hut (old)]. Extensive renovations & painting was completed by Permolat volunteers between 2017-2018. A new toilet was a recent addition too. Volunteers also cut & marked the Otehake Gorge route & it is now follow-able from the Otehake hot pools to the hut. Edit Hut
