Built in 1957, it is the second biv on-site, dating from 2011 when 'Top Crawford Bivvy' was relocated to replace the poorly conditioned, 'Pinnacle Bivvy (old) [(Crinkle Top Bivvy - (old)]’. Both bivs were of similar design & colour scheme. The newer biv sits 12 metres from where the old one was. In 2016, DOC overhauled the biv removing, re-framing, papering, reattaching & sealing the end walls. The flat head nails were replaced by hex screws. A new door, larger window & flashings were added, & some floor repairs completed, alongside a few coats of rescue orange. A nearby small tarn supplies water & there is cell phone reception from the ridge above the biv. Edit Hut
Amazing location with some grunty climb to get there. May need some re-lining as there was quite a bit of black mould on the walls, very overpowering smell- was tempted to open the door while I slept to let a breeze in. Wonderful gateway to the open tops.
Small but very cute biv. 2 people may struggle a bit to fit in but would manage. Water can be taken from a nearby tarn - bring a water filter, in January 2022 there was a dead bird in it
