Notes
Built in approximately 1982 by Steve Bolton & David White. It used an old NZFS single man's hut that was damaged after it was blown over on the Takapari air strip. Recently upgraded (mid 2019) by DOC & volunteers with lots of vegetation cleared, the chimney re-flashed, the holes fixed in the floor, the iron roof replaced & a cap put on the chimney. Farm access as per the topomap just up from Pohangina Base is now not allowed. The land was sold to new owners who have a private sign on the fence. The DOC sign and stile has been removed although the orange markers remain. Yet another access issue for trampers wanting to enjoy the Ruahines
