The hut was partially renovated by volunteers (led by Keith Dekkers) in April, 2018. In 2019 a small deck & water tank were added by Keith & co. The hut was originally located at the AA Motor Camp in Hanmer Springs before being relocated by truck to the Waiau River by Brain Pool, Ted Kumeroa & Ian Lunn. Edit Hut

Has an extra bunk underneath one of the main bunks.

Currently hosting rats. The hut lining has been partially removed and the replacement lining is there awaiting instillation. A deck, clearlite shelter wall by the door and water tank have been installed. The water source was dry when we visited 7/3/20,
