A historic cullers hut, with the oldest part of the hut being built in 1908. It was either refurbished or completely rebuilt in 1949 by Tom Lyes & Noel Bonnington for use in the first of Westland's deer culling operations. Tom & Noel used materials salvaged from an old hut at Vincent Creek & other materials were airdropped in, with some hand-adzed timber from the surrounding bush. The concrete floor dates from 1957 & the hut was upgraded by the NZFS in Nov., 1983. The DOC Hokitika building team of Miquel Dijkstra & Nigel Schroder restored the hut in Sept. / Oct., 2020. It is a faithfully preserved link with early deer culling days. Edit Hut
