A NZDA hut built to replace the earlier, 1909, Richard Sayer's built hut, which was destroyed by flood water. See 'Sayer Hut (old)'. Hans Willems in "North Island Backcountry Huts" (1998) has the date of building this, the second Sayer Hut as roughly 1945 but the Tararua Aorangi Remutaka Huts Committee states the current hut was built in 1947 or 1948.
