The hut sit right on the boundary between the Lake Sumner FP & the pastoral lease land, of Glenhope Station. Access to the hut is across private land, owned by Glenhope Station. ***As per the DOC website "Access across pastoral lease land. You need to get permission from Glenhope Station for access – phone +64 3 315 7697. As there have been issues with poaching on Glenhope Station, the station owners no longer provide access for hunters across their land". Edit Hut

The Hut has had a porch with a roof and an outside open fireplace added to the front of the hut in recent times.
