Notes
Built by the NZFS in 1962, it was NZFS # 519. It was flown in by John Reid in the Sikorski S55 in 1962. It was eventually painted by Peter Bell & Bruce Reay in February, 1975. DOC built a veranda, installed new windows & replaced the open fire with a woodburner in 1995. At some point, Max Polglaze lead a DOC team to shift the hut further back from the Wangapeka River, which was threatening to engulf it. Edit Hut
