There is an outside fireplace & the hut is maintained by Permolat Southland volunteers. In August, 2019, volunteers extensively cut & marked the track from the car park. February, 2020, saw volunteers build a toilet, clear the helipad, cut back the scrub & complete some odd jobs. February, 2021, saw a covered deck built & in March, 2021, the hut was painted.
