There are hot springs just up the river on the true right at the camp ground. The lodge is situated on the sheltered banks of the Mohaka River. The original lodge was constructed in June, 1973 but destroyed by fire within a short time of completion. It was replaced in 1975 & upgraded in 1994. This is a popular destination for day trips, weekends visits & longer-based tramps. The river is 30 metres from the large covered hut veranda. Adequate tenting space is available at the hut site. Be aware private Maori land exists directly across the Mohaka River from the lodge. It is private property so do not attempt to access this private land without permission first. Edit Hut
