Notes
Built in the late 1970's & initiated by Noel Johnson. Construction was overseen by Neil Harris, & all the piles, cement & builders mix was carried in from the end of Springs Road, across farmer Pritchard’s land, through the kauri groves & up to the hut site. Once the piles were set, the prefabricated hut was loaded onto a truck & driven to Schuler’s quarry at the base of the Kaimai, where it was flown to site. Edit Hut

Via Moututapere, via the Ribbon Track (challenging), then North South Track (easy) to this lovely clean, spacious and comfortable hut in a great spot.

Sink/water tap is just outside the hut. Decent campsite area outside the hut + 2 minutes down the track.
