Notes
Built by the NZFS in 1963 as a 4-bunk hut to replace the previous hut in the same vicinity, 'Top Hope Hut (old)'. 'Tope Hope Hut' was extended in 1975, with the addition of an extra room, with 2-bunks. At the same time, the NZFS replaced the open fire with a woodburner. In 2016, volunteers repainted the hut & it was completely renovated in March, 2019, in a joint DOC/ Auckland Baptist Tramping Club project, when the latter were celebrating 40 years with 40 days of backcountry volunteer work.
