This was the former 'Top Kokatahi Hut (old)', which used to be sited about 2km downstream. In 2008, DOC extensively upgraded & relocated the hut to this site, which is near to the former 'Kokatahi Bivvy'. Edit Hut

Personally I found the walk over to Crystal challenging. I have done a lot of tramping. I would say it is a dry weather route only.
