Notes
Derelict & overgrown with holes in the walls & roof. Access is by either boat or the cattle droving track named 'Te Kere Haka' above the lake. It is correctly located on 1:50,000 maps. About 200m before the nearby stream where the old 4WD track starts going uphill, locate a clear trail leaving the road dropping through low trees. This leads to a small clearing containing a large cabbage tree, the hut is adjacent. As of mid Nov., 2023, DOC have cleared a path down to the hut & tidied up the clearing, adding a new sign saying the hut is the historic 'Two Mile Day Shelter'. Edit Hut
