Built in 1975 by the Dept. of Lands & Survey, based upon a Murray Schofield (Fiordland NP, Chief Ranger) design. May / June, 2020 saw members of the NZDA 'Southern Lakes' branch replace the roofing structure, including chimney flashings & clear light panels, install new barge & facia boards, strengthened the bunks, installed new bunk ladders, installed seismic restraints to the water tank, cleaned the gutters & tank of debris, cleaned the hut exterior & installed two new stainless steel clothes lines.
