Built by the NZFS in the 1960's as a 6-bunk S70 design with an open fire. It was extensively overhauled by the NZFS in 1982, with a new chimney, windows & paint job (see photo). In 2005, DOC painted the hut & in 2009, they reconditioned it. More recently, DOC repainted the chimney. Early 2019, saw volunteers from the Over Forties Tramping Club extensively recut the track from the road end. Edit Hut
