This was the original 'barrel-shaped' Wangapeka Bivvy. It was later renamed 'Little Wanganui Gorge Shelter' despite being the same building (DOC simply changed the name). The barrel-shaped building was subsequently replaced with a square-shaped building in 2011 by DOC, which retained the name 'Little Wanganui Gorge Shelter'. There is a separate entry for the newer square-shaped 'Little Wanganui Gorge Shelter'. Edit Hut
