A historic structure built by John Handcock as a farmhouse in 1896-1897. In 1914 the land was bought by George Manson & the 1,200 acre farm was managed by Thomas Lines. Whariwharangi was farmed until 1972, but the farmhouse was unoccupied from 1926. It was used as a stockman’s hut but became derelict, eventually being restored in 1981 by a team led by Nelson carpenter, Graham Snadden to provide hut accommodation for visitors. Bookings required all year. Edit Hut
