This historic stone boundary-keeper’s hut is one of the oldest in NZ. It was reputedly built in the 1850's on the boundary between the Hawksburn Station & the then, massive Earnscleugh Station. While the stonework & roof are intact, it needs restoration & there are no intact bunks, only the frames are left (there used to be 6 bunks). The hut sits inside the legal conservation boundary but on the private farm side of the fence due to a give-and-take fencing agreement being in place. Edit Hut
