Built in 1960 by the NZFS, led by Noel Lilly, with assistance from Bill Johnson & Colin Nelson. It had an open fire at some point but it has been removed. Photo with chimney from NZ Deer Cullers. Late February, 2024, 4 volunteers from the Peninsula TC & builders, Hamish Cochrane & Ben Norris, replaced the roof, windows, & piles, & they painted the exterior, thanks to a bequest from the Leo Manders Estate. Leo was a long-time member of the Peninsula TC. Edit Hut
Access info via Permolat at: https://www.remotehuts.co.nz/yeats-ridge-hut.html. Once on the tops (just north of the tarn seen on topo maps), it can be difficult to follow the sparse markers even in good conditions. Well worth a visit as a morning trip from Cedar Flat (allow 3-4hr ish for a round trip if travelling light)
