Derelict. Appears on maps as both Adams Hut & YHA Hut. It is on private land on the south side of Oxford Forest. It is named after the Califorian, Arthur James (Jim) Adams, born 1921. Jim lived in NZ for 10 years & was a member of the Christchurch Tramping Club. He enlisted as a war photographer in the RNZAF, later joining the USAAF. Jim was killed in an aircraft accident in Celebes, Sulawesi, during WWII (Mark Pickering, "Huts untold stories from back-country New Zealand"). The hut was built on Ron Meyer's land. Edit Hut
The hut was built on Ron Meyer's land and he had his woolshed nearby across the road. The hut was probably named after Arthur James (Jim) Adams who was born in California in 1921. He lived in NZ for 10 years and attended Christchurch Boys High School before enlisting as a photographer in the RNZAF. He later joined the USAAF and was killed in an aircraft accident in Celebes, Sulawesi.
