It is the third of three 'Angelus' huts in the vicinity. The first was a 4-bunk tin hut built in 1956 by the Nelson Ski Club. It was replaced by the Dept of Lands & Survey in 1970 with a 16-bunk hut. 1992 saw DOC increase this by a further 8 bunks. The current 28-bunk hut was built during the summer of 2009/2010, opening on 21 April, 2010. Booking for Angelus Hut $20.00, campsite $10.00 required from 15 Nov. to 30 Apr.
