Notes
Situated on what is known as Frazers Flat, it belongs to DOC, & Blackadder Homestead Ltd are the custodians, & it is unlocked & available for public use. It has two rooms with tables & chairs but no bunks, as someone burnt them in a bonfire. One room has an open fire, candles & fire lighting items. The other room has a picnic table & random items for upkeep of the hut. Outside there is a picnic table & a fire pit. There are pots, pans & a kettle. In 1988, the hut was used by two old prospectors, Bill & Afton (Afty) Blackadder, who were known to have given the odd party of rain-soaked students a lift over a flooded Pell Stream in their digger. DOC wanted it removed but it was agreed that it will be looked after by Blackadder Homestead Ltd. Edit Hut

In 1988, I met two old prospectors at the hut, who I assume were the Blackadders. I was on a VUWTC tramp when they gave our party of rain-soaked students a lift over a flooded Pell Stream in their digger. They made us tea sweetened with condensed milk and honey sandwiches to warm us up. Their generosity was very much appreciated.
