It has 2 bunks and the category of Backcountry Hut.This was one of the first two of five huts built in the Frew Creek / Tom Creek area, co-existing with 'Top Frew Hut'. 'Bottom Frew Hut' was situated at the confluence of Frew Creek & the Whitcombe River. It was an early slab & dirt floor hut with a corrugated iron roof. Its construction has been attributed to the 1870's & 1880's era by various sources. It was shifted at least once due to issues involving erosion / flooding, & repaired in 1930. It was still standing, albeit derelict in 1974, after further flooding. By then it was surrounded by scrub & tree saplings taller than the hut.Location:

There are several sketches of this hut in the recently published book "Stag Spooner" by Chris Maclean where Stag calls it Old Frews Hut.
