I worked on the old NZFS Botanical surveys from here over the summer of 1980-81. Was NZFS base station for the area back then, as the name suggests.

I can confirm that this hut is at the old Boyle Base from NZ Forest Service days. A mate used to live in this hut back in the 80's when not working in Lake Sumner Forest Park.

I think it might be. F & B brought the hut in 2009 as they were starting a trapping program in the area. Not sure who owned it before them...
