It has 6 bunks and the category of Standard Hut.The first Colin Todd Hut was built by 10 members of the NZAC in 6 days in January, 1960. It was dedicated to Colin Macdonald Todd, an Alexandra-born, Dunedin-based climber who died in May, 1955 in a motorcycle accident near the Dunedin locality of Ravensbourne at age 28. Funding for the hut was from an anonymous donor. It's replacement was built in late 1995 / early 1996, with both huts co-existing for a short period. The replacement hut is 200m along Shipowner Ridge. In 1987 management of the hut passed to DOC under a Matukituki huts agreement.
